Passaic Boy Who Enlisted In Marines With Dreams Of Becoming Pilot Dies At 17
A Passaic family is grieving the loss of 17-year-old Jose David Buitrago Arbelaez, who died on Friday, Dec. 5. The cause of death was not made public. According to his obituary on the Alvarez Funeraria website, Jose was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He was an honor roll student at Passaic High School and had already enlisted in the Marine Corps with hopes of becoming a pilot, according to a GoFundMe launched by Brooke lynn Valoy. Pedestrian Hospitalized After Hit By Vehicle At Wall Speedway:

A pedestrian was hospitalized following a crash at Wall Stadium Speedway on Saturday morning, Nov. 22, authorities said. At 11:50 a.m., troopers responded to the speedway in Wall Township after a race car attempting to make a left turn lost directional control and struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn and strike a pedestrian, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The pedestrian sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Lebron said.. No other injuries were reported, Lebron said.

A 42-year-old Hackensack man was charged with sexual assault and child endangerment after an investigation into past abuse, authorities said. Fernando Sandoval sexually assaulted and endangered a juvenile in Hackensack more than once between Dec. 21, 2024, and Nov. 2, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
