A 40-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possessing cocaine in Lyndhurst on Sunday, Oct. 27, authorities said. At 12:08 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Ridge Road and Kingsland Avenue when they observed a silver Mazda CX5 delaying traffic which nearly caused a crash, Lyndhurst police said. A 27-year-old man has been arrested on accusations he started a brush fire over the weekend while the state was under a Stage 3 fire restriction in Lyndhurst, police said. Officers were called to the 600 block of Fourth Street on reports of a small brush fire around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, Lyndhurst Police Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. A 47-year-old motorist has been charged in a deadly Bergen County crash this month. Ralph Castellano III, of Lodi, was behind the wheel of the 2010 Toyota Tundra that struck Paul Adams, 70, of Wyckoff, while he was trying to cross Godwin Avenue at the intersection with Witte Drive on Friday, Oct. 11 around 7:10 p.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
