A Long Island man convicted of “executing” his roommate in a basement apartment murder received a lengthy prison sentence on Thursday, April 16, authorities said.
Darwin Josue Maldonado Vanegas, 32, got 25 years to life for second-degree murder, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Maldonado Vanegas was convicted last month for killing Daniel Nunez Hernandez, 24, in their Bay Shore apartment on April 3, 2025.
