The 1.8-magnitude tremor was recorded at 8:23 a.m., with an epicenter about seven kilometers southwest of Gladstone, the USGS reported.  Residents in Lake Hopatcong, Chester, Gladstone, Mendham, and Bridgewater reported feeling it. The quake appears to have happened along the Ramapo Fault Line, near where the 4.8-magnitude quake happened last April.

Lake Hopatcong Man Seriously Injured After Crash On Route 287: Njsp A man suffered serious injuries following a collision on Route 287 in Somerset County on the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 18. At 5:18 p.m., a Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound on Route 287 in Bridgewater Township when it veered off the roadway to the right, struck the guardrail and then crossed into another lane, and hit another guardrail, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver, a 66-year-old Lake Hopatcong resident sustained serious injuries, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Woman Struck, Killed By Commuter Train In Wayne A woman was struck and killed by a commuter train Thursday morning in Wayne, authorities confirmed. The unidentified woman was struck shortly after 7:30 a.m. just west of Main Street and Dewey Avenue, NJ Transit Chief Communications Officer Nancy Snyder said.
