Brush Fire Burns Four Acres In Hunterdon County: FD Wet weather didn't stop some brush from burning in Hunterdon County on Sunday, March 24, authorities said. At 4 p.m. firefighters responded to Pittstown Road for a brush fire, the Quakerstown Fire Company said. Firefighters arrived and found four acres of a field burning, resulting in the New Jersey Forest Fire Service utilizing a controlled burn to help extinguish the blaze, officials said.  It took 20 minutes for the blaze to be contained, firefighters said

Two State Troopers Injured During Traffic Stop On Route 78: Njsp Two state troopers were hospitalized after their vehicle was struck during a traffic stop in Hunterdon County on the early morning of Sunday, Feb. 25, state police said.  At 2:50 a.m., troopers were conducting a motor vehicle stop on the right shoulder of Route 78 west in Readington Township when the driver of a Toyota lost directional control and sideswiped the police car, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The troopers sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital, McNair said. The crash remains under investigation, McNair said.
