Two Arrested In Broom Handle Assault: Warren County Prosecutor
Two people were arrested on Sunday, March 18, after a domestic dispute in Hackettstown ended with an assault with a broom handle, authorities said. Hackettstown Police initially responded to 115 Main St. on a report of stabbing and found two people with minor injuries following a domestic dispute, Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer said. During the dispute, Luis Marroquin brandished a knife and used it a threatening manner toward Santiago Saqui, Pfeiffer said. Candy Company Makes $70 Million Investment To New Jersey Site
Mars is continuing its commitment to Warren County. The company that produces M&Ms, Snickers, Altoids, and Ben's Original announced a $70 million investment to its site in Hackettstown. The money will go toward a new Research and Development Innovation Studio, including a new test kitchen and packaging lab. Drunk Driver Crashed Into Pole: Hackettstown PD
A 41-year-old Independence resident was arrested and charged with DWI after her vehicle crashed into a pole on Sunday, March 3, authorities said. At 3:19 a.m., Hackettstown police responded to 299 Mountain Ave. for a single car crash, officers said on Facebook. Police were advised the vehicle had struck a pole and power lines were hanging low, blocking traffic on Mountain Avenue,, officers said. A bicyclist who was struck and killed last week by a New Jersey State Police car driven by a department veteran with a deep history of social work was identified by authorities as 59-year-old Raul L. Diaz of Long Valley. A New Jersey chain that prides itself on using fresh Angus beef for innovative burgers is opening up its second restaurant on the Jersey Shore. 30 Burgers opened up its newest location in late January in Freehold Township. Man Charged In Thanksgiving Eve Crash That Killed Hackettstown Mom
A 51-year-old Hackettstown man was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 4 and charged with vehicular manslaughter following a Thanksgiving Eve crash that killed a 33-year-old mother of two. Andrzej Szysko was heading east in a Jeep Wrangler that struck the passenger's side of a Ford pickup truck, heading south on Route 517 in Allamuchy around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, New Jersey State Police said. The family of a 56-year-old Morris County man says he was changing a tire on the way home from a wedding when he was struck and killed by a vehicle on the shoulder of Route 280 last month. A New Jersey driver was arrested in a fatal crash on Route 280 New Year's Eve, authorities said. A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a Nissan caused a fuel spill that left Route 31 in Warren County closed for hours on Wednesday morning, Dec. 20, police said. It happened around 4:35 a.m., Washington Township Police Chief Christopher M. Jones said.
