Former Newark Cop Gets Five Years For Vehicular Homicide, Attempted Coverup
Louis Santiago, a 26-year-old Bloomfield resident and former Newark police officer, was sentenced to five years in prison for fatally striking a pedestrian while driving drunk and then driving home with the victim's body in his car, authorities said.
Santiago had previously pled guilty to reckless vehicular homicide, desecrating human remains and driving under the influence in the death of Damian Dymka, a 29-year-old Garfield resident, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said.

Paul Travelho, USPS Worker From Garfield, Dies At 41
Paul Travelho, a lifelong Garfield resident, died on Tuesday, June 20, according to his obituary.
Travelho spent 23 years working as a coordinator for UPS in Secaucus, his obituary reads. He is survived by his parents, Dulce and Aderito, his son, Aiden, his brother, John, and other relatives and friends, according to his obituary.
His funeral will be held on Friday, June 23 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin RC Church in Garfield and he will be buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Saddle Brook, his obituary reads.
