The incident remains under investigation, Fragé said.

The accident happened at 12:31 p.m. at a gas station on the 200 block of South Orange Avenue. The driver reversed into the officer and subsequently fled the scene, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.  The officer was transported to University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Fragé said.
