The infamous local mother who abused her adoptive children is facing new charges after police learned more about the abuse the children suffered while in her care. Shelley Noreika, 47, of Newville was arrested on Wednesday night. Three of her four adoptive children reported the abuse cited in this round of charges-- they were ages 6, 7 and 9 at the time of disclosing the abuse to police. Stand-Off In Carlisle Ends With Arrest Of Man, 25, Say Police
A 25-year-old man has been arrested following a nearly four-hour long standoff in Carlisle on Monday, according to police. The North Middleton Township Police were called a report of a suicidal subject in the 1400 block of Newville Road just after 12:30 p.m., say police. Luis Pedroso, of Carlisle, was armed with a large kitchen knife when officers arrived. A Mechanicsburg man is facing a weapons of mass destruction charge after a failed attempt to make fireworks, say police. Johnathan Park, 33, was arrested after he attempted to make fireworks on his bed in his apartment in 500 block of Geneva Drive, according to police. A woman has been charged for strangling another woman during a fight on Monday, according to police in Upper Allen Township.
