A Long Island has been sentenced for a bludgeoning that left his mother, sister, and a family friend dead, and injured another woman in the home.
Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly said Bobby Vanderhall, age 39, of Hempstead, was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison on Friday, Feb. 18 for the August 2017 killings.
According to the indictment, around 1 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017, Vanderhall forcibly entered his family home in Hempstead with a hammer and screwdriver.

A former Montgomery County deputy sheriff was sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison for his involvement in a global drug trafficking ring, authorities said.
In October 2018, David Landis, 44, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import controlled substances, possession, and distributing drugs that resulted in "serious bodily injury," throughout Montgomery County and beyond, according to the U.S Department of Justice.

A Bucks County man was sentenced Friday to up to seven years in state prison for repeatedly stabbing a man during a fight two years ago in Lower Makefield, authorities said.
The sentencing comes after Zachary Ganie, 26, pleaded guilty on June 1 to aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, and reckless endangering another person, and no contest to two counts of simple assault for the Sept. 12, 2019 incident.
