A 48-year-old man was shot dead in a flurry of gunfire in West Philadelphia on Thursday night, Sept. 19, authorities said.
Kahleem Mitchell died in the drive-by shooting, Philadelphia police said in a press statement on Friday, Sept. 20.
A total of 35 shell casings were recovered at the crime scene, police stated.
Philadelphia Police responded to a call for a person with a gun on the 700 block of South 52nd Street, in the 18th District at about 9 p.m., police said.

Four people were shot, one critically, in the region during a large, disorderly gathering.
The incident occurred in Dutchess County in the city of Poughkeepsie around 3:30 a.m., Friday, July 5, in the area of 380 Main St.
According to Det. Sgt. Terrance Beam of the Poughkeepsie Police, responding officers, encountered a large disorderly group and four people suffering from gunshot wounds.
