Fatal Crash: 25-Year-Old From Shirley ID'd As Victim After Vehicle Hits Pole In Yaphank
A 25-year-old has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash on Long Island. It happened just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 in Yaphank. The man was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla northbound on Yaphank Avenue when the vehicle veered off the road, struck a curb, and went airborne, hitting a telephone pole, Suffolk County Police said. Nicholas Demaio, of Shirley, was partially ejected from the vehicle, according to police. Reading Student Hit By Car Near High School, Police Say
A 14-year-old student was hit by a car while walking to Reading High School on Thursday morning, Sept. 28, police told Daily Voice. The student, a girl, was crossing the street at the same time a car was turning, RPD said. Her injuries were non-life-threatening and she was treated at a nearby hospital, police added. The driver stayed on-scene and is cooperating with investigators.

23-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Overnight Patchogue Crash
A 23-year-old suffered serious injuries in an overnight Long Island crash. It happened just after midnight on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in Patchogue. The man, a Medford resident, was crossing Medford Avenue, just south of East Roe Boulevard, when a southbound 2012 Nissan Altima struck him at approximately 12 a.m. He was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital to treat serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A car accident in Feasterville ended in a fiery wreck and caused some area residents to lose power late on Monday, Sept. 25, according to authorities. The Feasterville Fire Company responded to a crash on Philmont Avenue around 9:30 p.m., officials said.
