RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- After the announcement of the Democratic budget revision plan to close the deficit for fiscal year 2017, State Rep. John Frey (R-Ridgefield) had strong words for the Democrats on the legislature’s Appropriations Committee. Wilton Wahoo Swimmers Head To Regional Championships
WILTON, Conn. -- Fourteen Wilton Wahoo swimmers headed out-of-state this month to compete in regional championship swim meets. Five of the swimmers went to the 2016 Speedo Sectionals Long Course, held March 31 to April 3, in Buffalo, N.Y., seeking out Olympic trial cut times. The group included: Hugo Sykes of Weston; Emma Holmquist of Wilton; Jake Kealy of Wilton; Robby Giller of Wilton; and KyLee Perry of Norwalk, who holds two Olympic trials cuts in the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle. DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Police Department is holding a “Prescription Drug Take Back Day” on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Danbury Police Headquarters, 375 Main St. The event will give area residents the chance to properly dispose of unwanted and expired medicines. TRUMBULL, Conn. -- With the arrival of primary season, the Trumbull Elections Office will be open full-time from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday, April 29. The Democratic and Republican Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Tuesday, April 26. Only members of the parties may participate in the primary. Putnam Valley Central School District Announces Lower Tax Levy
PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Putnam Valley Central School District has announced that it will be cutting the amount of money it levies for school taxes by $100,000 in 2016-17. Over two consecutive budget years, the District has cut school taxes by more than $280,000, while continuing to maintain programs and staffing. Rochelle Park Library Trading Food For Fines
ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. -- In honor of National Library Week, April 10 to 16, the Rochelle Park Library is accepting donated food items for the Helping Hands Food Pantry. For every food item an individual brings to donate, the library will remove $2 worth of fines from that individual's account. The library will also accept donations from those without any fines on their accounts. Donated items must be non-perishable. Items in glass containers cannot be accepted.
