Police Chiefs Association Honors Fairfield's McCarthy Vahey With Award FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association recently presented State Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey (D-Fairfield) with a legislative award in recognition of her efforts on behalf of law enforcement in Connecticut. McCarthy Vahey thanked the group for the honor and praised them for their work. "Thank you to the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association for this recognition of my efforts to enhance law enforcement," she said. "I believe all of them deserve an award – especially Fairfield's own Deputy Chief Christopher Lyddy and Chief Gary MacNamara."

Monroe Library Hosting 'Dinner And A Movie Night' For Teens MONROE, Conn. -- The Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 733 Monroe Turnpike, is hosting its next teen “Dinner and a Movie Night,” on Friday, Feb. 12. Cuomo Launches Effort To Stop Use Of Conversion Therapy On Gay Children Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced his intention Saturday to stop the use of conversion therapy on children, according to The New York Times. Cuomo will attempt to curb the use of the therapy through a series of economic measures, including preventing insurance providers in the state from covering the treatments for minors, The Times reports. Cuomo expects his efforts will ultimately put an end to the controversial practice, which attempts to reverse homosexuality in its patients, The Times reports. Nypd Officer From Southeast Leaves Bronx Hospital After Being Shot In Face THE BRONX, N.Y. -- An officer with the New York Police Department from Southeast left Lincoln Hospital to the cheers of onlookers Friday, just a day after a 23-year-old gunman shot him in the face, according to News 12. Officer Patrick Espeut, who has also served for a decade in the Air National Guard in Newburgh, was injured in a confrontation initiated by Malik Chavis at the Melrose Housing Complex, as previously reported here. Yorktown Police Arrest Putnam Valley Man For Driving With Suspended License YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a 21-year-old resident of Putnam Valley on a charge of driving without a valid license, police said. An officer on a routine patrol observed a vehicle allegedly pass through a steady red traffic signal at Kear Street and Underhill Avenue on Jan. 28, about 6:06 p.m., police report. Kent Man Charged With Aggravated, Felony DWI KENT, N.Y. -- Kent Police arrested a town resident on a driving while intoxicated charge. The Kent Police Department received a call from a resident of Hortontown Road who reported a dispute at a residence on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at approximately 4:45 p.m., officials report.
