Thefts From Unlocked Cars Reported In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Two residents of South Gate Lane reported thefts from their vehicles on Sunday, police said. One resident told police someone entered her unlocked BMW sometime after 11 p.m., stealing a purse, wallet and a cellphone valued at $1,550. Another resident reported that someone entered three of his vehicles, which were all unlocked and in the driveway, stealing about $2 in loose change. Fairfield police remind residents to lock their vehicles.

In Monroe MONROE, Conn. — Midge Saglimbene’s heart sank when she got the first call asking whether she had sold the statue of Jesus of the Sacred Heart that stands watch outside her Main Street religious gift shop, Angels & Company. “I said, 'No,' and she said, ‘Well, it’s missing,’” said Saglimbene, who has co-owned the store for 16 years with Linda Schirillo. “I thought, 'Oh, no. Bridgeport Man Charged With Stealing Tools From Garage In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Bridgeport man was charged with stealing landscaping and masonry tools from a Fairfield garage, police said Monday. Ivan Burgos, 30, of Kent Avenue, was charged with third-degree larceny in connection with the theft of five chainsaws, three blowers, an air compressor and other tools, valued at $4,650, police said.  The theft was from an unlocked garage on Woodrow Avenue in April, police said. He was arrested in court after he tried to pawn the equipment, police said. Bond was set at $5,000.

Leaf Blower, Framing Gun Stolen From Fairfield Garage FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A $600 leaf blower and a $400 framing gun were reported stolen from a Collingwood Avenue garage Sunday, Fairfield police said. The owner said he returned home and noticed the garage door was partially open, police said.  He told officers he believed the thief gained access through a broken rear window covered with cardboard, police said. The theft probably occurred between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:42 a.m. Sunday, police said.
