Fairfield Police Charge Man With Drunken Driving, Leaving Scene Of Crash FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Waterbury man was arrested on drunken driving and hit-and-run charges when he veered off Bronson Road and struck a mailbox Sunday evening, Fairfield police said. Francisco Garcia-Rivera, 23, of Hamden Avenue, kept driving after hitting the mailbox with his Ford Mustang, police said. Unlocked Cars Lead To Multiple Thefts in Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Fairfield police reported a stolen car and several thefts from unlocked parked cars from Friday into Saturday, mostly in the Southport section of town. Around 8:15 a.m. Saturday, a Warner Hill Road man reported his 2015 BMW, which was left unlocked with the keys and a wallet in the cup holder, was missing from his driveway, police said. Bridgeport Man Arrested With Cocaine, Scale, Cash In Truck In Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A Bridgeport man was arrested on drug charges early Sunday after officers found him with bags of cocaine, a scale and $2,009 in cash in a truck outside a Reef Road convenience store, Fairfield police said. Officers were called to the 7-Eleven to check on the well-being of a person who appeared to be vomiting out of a truck at about 3 a.m., police said. Off-Duty Bridgeport Firefighter Killed, Many Injured In Two-Car Accident BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — An off-duty Bridgeport firefighter was killed and several others injured Saturday afternoon in a two-car accident on Bishop Avenue near Connecticut Avenue in the city’s East End.
