Hackensack Farmers Market Workers Tackle Tip Jar Thief, Repeat Offender: Cops
Employees at the Hackensack Farmers Market tackled and detained a repeat offender who tried to steal a tip jar from Sunday morning, March 29, police said.
Shajee Jackson, 32, of Hackensack, was inside Giant Farmer’s Market at 324 Main St. at 8:17 a.m., when he grabbed a tip jar from a cash register and attempted to run out, Hackensack Police Capt. Darrin DeWitt said.
Several employees confronted Jackson and tried to stop him as he pushed through them, DeWitt said. After a brief physical altercation, workers successfully detained him until police arrived and placed him under arrest.

A woman has been charged after a man was slashed in the head with a kitchen knife in Fairview late Tuesday morning, March 31, authorities said.
Officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault on the 200 block of Fifth Street at 11:49 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, Deputy Police Chief John Pierotti said.
At the scene, officers found a man who had been slashed on the top of his head with a kitchen knife, Pierotti said. The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment.
