New Canaan Easter Egg Hunt Helps Out Children's Charities NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- An Easter egg hunt is coming April Fool's Day to New Canaan that will benefit several local organizations. The Saturday, April 1 hunt at Waveny Park will be kicked off by the Easter Bunny. Kids will then look for 10,000 eggs, including "golden" ones containing gift certificates to New Canaan Toy Store. There will be music by a Dixieland band, pony rides, a bounce house, and face-painting. Photos will be taken, courtesy of Christina Saburro Photography, with the Easter Bunny. Danbury Teen Poet's Imagery Nabs Silver Medal In National Contest DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury High School senior Anna Strosser sees the world through her poetry, and was recently recognized with a silver medal in a national contest.Strosser's "Nose Dive" won in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. The competition received 330,000 submissions from students across the country in 29 categories. Strosser's award will be given at a ceremony in June at famed Carnegie Hall in New York City. Darien YMCA Golf Scramble Raises Money For Special Needs Programs DARIEN, Conn. -- A golf scramble June 5 in Greenwich will help pay for special needs programming for kids and teens at the Darien YMCA. The Darien Y is the largest provider of special needs programs in the Darien community, with an annual participation rate of over 600 people. There are classes in cooking, art, fitness, yoga, and martial arts and aquatics programs. There is even a girls club for kids, teens and young adults.
