Pleasantville native Jon Craig is special editor for the Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange and Dutchess Daily Voice sites. He is also the primary reporter for Daily Voice Plus Politics in Westchester and Fairfield.

Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

Jon also writes periodically for the Cornell Chronicle.

Cumberland County Man, 29, Sentenced In Shooting Death: Prosecutor A 29-year-old Cumberland County man has been sentenced to 40 years in New Jersey State Prison for a fatal shooting, authorities said. Frank J. Baker, of Seabrook, was sentenced in connection with the murder of Jair Rennie, 22, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae. Motorist Hospitalized After Garden State Parkway Crash A motorist was hospitalized after a crash on the Garden State Parkway,  authorities said. New Jersey State Police were called at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 to milepost 74.8 in Lacey Township on a report of an overturned vehicle. A preliminary investigation found that the driver was traveling south on the Parkway, lost control of the vehicle and ran off the highway to the right, down an embankment and overturned, State Police said. The driver was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

Homeless Man Found Dead In Lakewood A homeless man was found dead in Lakewood, authorities said. The man's body was found at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday April 25 near a tent along railroad tracks.  An investigation is ongoing but it appears the man died of a drug overdose, according to a Lakewood police spokesman.

Serious Crashes Reported On I-295 A pair of serious crashes was reported on Interstate 295, authorities said. The first crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25 on the southbound ramp to Exit 34 (Route 70) in Cherry Hill, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. There was a partial ramp closure, nj511.org reported. The second crash occurred at about 2:50 p.m.  southbound North of Exit 20 (Route  643) in West Deptford, the DOT said. Salem County Roads Worker Settles Third Race Discrimination Lawsuit A Salem County road worker has won his third racial discrimination lawsuit against the county, according to a public records advocate. Grady Butts, who is black, sued Salem County in January 2022, alleging he was subjected to repeated verbal abuse and denied promotions because of his race.  That suit was settled on March 7 for $37,500, according to legal papers obtained by open records advocate John Paff. 4 Charged With Drug-Dealing On Jersey Shore: Police Four suspects were charged with various drug offenses during a surveillance operation on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. On April 13, at approximately 7 p.m., Jackson police detectives conducted surveillance in the 60 Acre Reserve neighborhood.
