Team Effort Carries Weston Girls to Track Title The road to a sixth straight title in the South-West Conference track and field championships was a team effort for the Weston High girls. Kara Bucaro won two individual races and ran on the winning 4 x 400 relay, but the Trojans picked up points in a multitude of events to ease past Joel Barlow and Pomperaug in a close race for the team title. Weston finished with 108.25, followed by the Falcons with 98.25 and Pomperaug with 90.25. Bucaro captured the 800 and 1,600 for Weston. Two field events, however, proved critical to the Trojans' victory. In the pole vault, Erica Litvak won while Em…

Westhill Runner Is League's Fastest Man Westhill High School senior Dillin Smith earned the title of the fastest man in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference at Tuesday's league championship meet — and even he was surprised. Smith won the 100 meters and came within a whisker of adding a gold medal in the 200. He finished second to Danbury's Dele Owoye. Winning the 100 was Smith's priority, however, and he outran Owoye and Greenwich's Tim Frazier to win in 11.085. Owoye was second in 11.09, and Frazier was third in 11.2. "I came here as the fourth seed," Smith said. "I just ran my hardest." Smith had a lackluste…
