Harvey School Boys Basketball Upends Chase KATONAH, N.Y. -- In the most exciting game since The Harvey Schools upset last second victory at South Kent last year, the Cavaliers took the defending Hudson Valley Athletic League champions Chase Collegiate into overtime on Wednesday, Dec. 18, and pulled off another upset, winning 61-57 at home. Report: Redding Figure Skater Will Go To Olympics For Australia REDDING, Conn. – Redding’s Brooklee Han will represent Australia in figure skating at the Winter Olympics, according to a published report on Thursday. Wide World of Sports reported Han will go to Sochi after an unsuccessful challenge by Chantelle Kerry, another Australian figure skater. Kerry argued Han was ineligible for Sochi because she entered an event without the approval of the national body of Australian figure skating. Han was unavailable for comment. Hudson Valley Hospital In Cortlandt Wraps Gifts Collected For Children CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Santa’s Helpers at Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor spent the afternoon on Wednesday wrapping mountains of presents to make wishes come true for local children and their families. The staff wrapped more than 800 gifts that will be donated to local social services agencies and delivered to families in need. Pajamas and books, dolls, trucks, musical instruments and art supplies, boots, socks and tons of other toys, clothing and gifts were packaged in a few hours. Harvey School Varsity, JV Sports Teams Have Busy Stretch KATONAH, N.Y. -- The Harvey School's boys basketball team went 1-2 in recent action. Storm King beat Harve, 75-52, on Dec. 16, despite a career-high 17 point from freshman Evan Roteman. Deshawn Hilliard added nine rebounds. Harvey also lost to New York Military Academy, 71-40. Robert Lawrence Berry, 92, Longtime New Canaan Resident NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Robert (Bob, “Poppy”) Lawrence Berry Jr., a longtime New Canaan resident, died on Dec. 12, 2013 in the company of his children in Norwalk. He was 92. Berry was born on Aug. 22, 1921 in Newark, N.J., to Robert Lawrence Berry and Lucy Haldane Lindabury Berry. He was married for 64 years to his beloved wife Margaret (Peggy) Wight Berry, who died in 2007. The Berrys also lived on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.
