Ossining Girl Helps Synchronized Skating Team Win National Title WESTCHESTER COUNTY, Conn. – Skaters from Westchester County helped the Skyliners Synchronized Skating team win the gold medal in the Juvenile Division at the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships last weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo. Bronxville's Cain Pulls Out Of World Meet Because Of Injury BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Bronxville’s Mary Cain pulled out of this weekend’s World Indoor Championships for track and field due to a calf injury. Cain, who now trains in Portland, Ore., under distance running legend Alberto Salazar, said on the USA Track and Field website that she developed “discomfort In my lower calf” over the past week. An MRI on Saturday did not reveal any damage. “But I still feel the pain when I wear spikes and have decided not to risk making it worse in Poland,’’ Cain said. New Rochelle Girls Track Crowns Three Champions At State Meet NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle High School’s girls track team crowned two individual champions and added a relay victory in the New York indoor track and field championships in Ithaca, N.Y. on Saturday. New Rochelle was led by senior Symone Darius and senior Ashley Wiggins. Darius won the 300 meters. Wiggins won 55 hurdles. Wilton Wahoos Swimmers Glide To Top Results At Meets WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton Wahoos swim team for ages 13-and-up competed in several meets with outstanding results in recent meets. At the Orlando Grand Prix in February, nine members of the national squad participated in a meet with more than 500 swimmers. Stephen Holmquist swam in seven events in the three-day meet, with his best a ninth place finish in the 400-meter individual medley. Swimmers At Chelsea Piers Stamford Set State Relay Record STAMFORD, Conn. -- A relay team from Chelsea Piers Connecticut broke a 30-year-old state record in a recent swim meet at the Stamford facility. Greeniwch's Nicholas Malchow, Alex Plavoukos and Gavin West joined Fairfield's Tyler Sicignano to set the mark in the boys 9- to 10-year-old 200 freestyle relay. Alisa Lippmann, 100, Former Resident Of Chappaqua CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Alisa Lippmann, a former resident of Chappaqua, died on Feb. 18 in Napa, Calif. She was 100. She was born in Rome, May 9, 1913 to Giulo and Emma Moscato. She married in Genoa in 1936 and escaped to New York City from Paris on the eve of World War II with only her baby daughter and her mother. Shortly thereafter, she started her own business making hats and dresses in New York until her husband, Heinz, was able to safely emigrate from Europe.
