Haldane High's Kelly Vahos Earns Volleyball Honor From MaxPreps COLD SPRING, N.Y. -- Haldane High School’s Kelly Vahos was named the MaxPreps/AVCA Player of the Week for New York after leading the Blue Devils to a pair of wins last week. Vahos had 64 kills as Haldane (14-2) defeated Roy Ketcham in Wappingers Falls and Mahopac High School and fell to Yorktown High School. She also had 22 digs, six aces and nine blocks. Bennett scored two goals in a 2-0 win over Pleasantville and added four more in a 6-1 over Carmel. Bennett has 11 goals on the season for the Huskers (10-4-2).

Wilton Soccer Team Reaches State Cup Semifinals WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton under-11 boys soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the State Cup. Wilton will play West Hartford in the semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 25. The tournament started with 74 teams. Wilton beat WAM United, 3-1, in the quarterfinals. Stamford Church Hosts Halloween Fundraiser For Wilderness School STAMFORD, Conn. -- Union Memorial Church is hosting "Trunk or Treat" on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-6 p.m. All proceeds for this event will go towards a scholarship to the Wilderness School in memory of Kyle Cruz.  Cruz, 17, a city resident and student at Stamford High School, died on Oct. 30, 2013. A "Trunk or Treat" is a safe trick or treating event where people park in a lot and decorate their car or tailgate and hand out Halloween treats.
