Staples Sweeps Track Meet Staples improved to 11-0 on the season by sweeping a track quad meet Wednesday at Brien McMahon. The Wreckers beat Fairfield Ludlowe 129.67-20.33; defeated McMahon 114-36; and Bridgeport Central, 140-10. Junior Raphael Ray won the 100, 400 and anchored the 4 x 100 relay team to victory for Staples. Carl Louis won the 1,600 and the high jump for McMahon. Clement Abonyi won the long and triple jumps, and Jabari McLean won the discus and Brian Langley-Wade the 200 for the Senators.

Here's the Pitch Players ran, hit, threw, kicked and passed Wednesday night at Veterans Park. There were many games and practices at the popular park, including a Little League game between Rotary and Lions Club. Rotary won, 13-8, to improve to 4-3. Tyler McMillian went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBIs for Rotary.

Mother's Day 10K Ready to Roll Runners and walkers of all ages can celebrate mom and support local charities, all while enjoying a morning of fun and fitness. The Lightfoot Running Club and the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department will present the 33rd Annual Mother's Day 10K Race on Sunday at Calf Pasture Beach. For the second consecutive year, the event will also include a 5K Health Walk. Net proceeds from the race will be donated to the American Heart Association; proceeds from the 5K walk will be donated to the Norwalk Senior Center. Cooley Signs Extension at Fairfield Fairfield University men's basketball Ed Cooley signed a new contract to coach the Stags through the 2015-16 season. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The contract will supersede an extension which was signed in February, 2010. Cooley led the Fairfield University men's basketball team to a 23-11 season in 2009-10, the second most wins in program history.
