Runner Goes Extra Mile for Charity Jo Bennett enjoys combining fitness and fund-raising. Now, the Norwalk woman helps other athletes do the same. Bennett took over this year as the director of Charitymile.com, a website that helps athletes raise money for charities through competition. The site also helps organizers handle details with planning and managing their events. Rip Teammates Walk Memory Lane It made sense that Ed Lane and Jeff Gee were inducted into the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Hall of Fame on the same night. They were honored for their long tenure as cross country and track coaches at their respective schools, Lane at Westhill and Gee at Wilton. Lane and Gee were one-time teammates on the school's track team at Rippowam in Stamford in the 1960s. "He was younger that I was, so I don't remember him,'' said Lane, who graduated from Rip in 1968. "I was doing what I was doing. I didn't get to know him until I got into coaching." Gee was a sophomore when …

Writer Brings Snow White Into the 80's Joe Guttadauro works as a systems analyst for Hewitt Associates in Norwalk, but writing is his hobby. He penned the script for "A Totally 80's Snow White", a production at the Carriage House Arts Center. The show runs this weekend. "With all of the kids' shows, we try to take a show the kids know and update it so they're funny and new to the parents,'' Guttadauro says. "But it's a fine line, because the kids know what the show is supposed to be, and they have to know what's going on." In this Snow White production, the story follows Snow White and her two best friends on their journey to be…

Ando Soars Above New England Field One of the biggest challenges for track and field athletes is to be at your best when it matters most. That’s precisely what occurred for Weston High School senior Emily Ando, who won the pole vault at the New England Track and Field Championships Saturday at Willowbrook Park in New Britain. Earlier in June, Ando won the State Open and Class M state championships.  “I was so excited to win, it’s such an accomplishment,’’ Ando said. “I didn’t set winning New Englands as a …
