Young QB's Get a Pro's Advice Former New York Jets quarterback Glenn Foley handed off some of his knowledge to young quarterbacks Wednesday during a visit to Sono Field House. Foley worked with the young athletes for three hours, giving them advice on throwing mechanics, reading defenses and other aspects of quarterback play. Foley played for the Jets from 1994-1999. He also played for the Seattle Seahawks and the New Jersey Gladiators in the Arena Football League. He starred at Boston College before being drafted by the Jets in the seventh round of the 1994 draft. About 30 boys attended Wednesday's camp.

Intensity Coach Shows She's Got Game Aurelie Udall hadn't played a tennis match in five years. When she stomped past her opponent in straight sets to win the women's singles title at last month's Connecticut Public Parks Championships in Stamford, it may have surprised others, but not Aurelie. "The girls that I played were very good,'' said Aurelie, a Norwalk resident who works at Intensity Fitness and Tennis. "I had a plan, and once I got going, I was on a mission. It worked." Aurelie, 31, considers herself a coach more than a player these days. She has a 15-month-old son, Andreas, and her husband, Joe, teaches at Trailblazer…

McKeever Crunches Sailing Numbers Diane McKeever will be the first to tell you she knows little about sailboat racing. She does know computers, however. It is the marriage between the two that helped put her in the position of co-chairman for the Stamford Yacht Club's Vineyard Race. It starts on Sept. 3. "I got wrangled into it,'' says Diane, whose husband, Ed, owned sailboats for 40 years. "The more involved you get, the more exciting it is." McKeever's main task is to score the race, and that's harder than it sounds. There are three competitions. The Vineyard Race, which is in its 76th year, is 238 miles and takes sailo…

Peter's Rallies to Win Softball Crown Peter's Spirits awakened just in time to capture the Weston Women's Softball League championship Tuesday night. Trailing 5-0 entering the bottom of the sixth, Peter's erupted for seven runs to defeat the Wild Things, 7-5. The victory capped a remarkable turnaround for a team that won only two games in 2009. "When we get momentum and confidence, we start clicking,'' said Julie Baisley, whose two-run single gave Peter's the lead. "We had a little more confidence with the bat this year." The Wild Things needed to beat Peter's twice to capture the title. Jenn Cirino's two-run triple in the firs…
