A young man was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train on Monday night, April 20, officials said.
Cameron William Zappolo, 21, was walking where the trains cross Merritts Road in Farmingdale when the train hit him around 7:45 p.m., MTA leaders told Newsday. The train was traveling eastbound on the Ronkonkoma Branch, authorities said.
Zappolo, of Farmingdale, was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where he was pronounced dead, according to Newsday.

The break-in occurred at Best American Homes Realty in North Valley Stream around 1:12 a.m., the Nassau County Police Department said in a Monday night alert.
