Manchester Man Dies After Medical Emergency Leads To Multi-Car Crash: Police An 83-year-old man died following a crash involving multiple vehicles Tuesday morning, Sept. 9, police said. The driver hit a parked car near 186 East Center Street in Manchester just before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9. The impact sent him careening into another vehicle, investigators said.  “Preliminary findings indicate that the operator may have suffered a medical emergency before the initial collision,” police said. The 71-year-old lifelong South Windsor resident worked at Pratt & Whitney for more than 44 years. Kania was a second-generation firefighter in town and served nine years with Support Company 6 and its Fire Police Unit, the South Windsor Fire Department said. The cause of death was not released. Color Me Nuts: Painted Squirrels Turn Heads In East Hartford; Police On Hunt For Artist Authorities in a Connecticut community are asking for the public's help after two squirrels were found painted.  East Hartford Animal Control received a report of the animals being painted — one red and the other blue — in the Naubuc Avenue and High Street area. Both squirrels appear to be OK from the paint, but animal control officers want to find out who is responsible. Some paints are highly toxic to squirrels and can cause death or serious illness.  Authorities urge anyone with information to contact East Hartford Animal Control at 860-291-7572 and leave a message.
