Waterbury Driver Killed After Losing Control On I-691 In Meriden: Police Authorities have identified a 67-year-old Connecticut man as the driver killed in an  Interstate 691 West crash earlier this week.  John Vincent Ireton Sr., of Waterbury, was driving in the left lane around 8:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, when he lost control of his Chevrolet Prism near Exit 3 in Meriden, went onto the shoulder, hit a guardrail, and slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer, Connecticut State Police said.  Paramedics rushed Ireton to MidState Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
