Man Dies After Jumping From Fire Island Lighthouse A man died after jumping from the Fire Island Lighthouse, police said. The incident happened around 1:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Robert Moses Field 5. A 911 caller reported seeing a man jump from the observation deck of the historic lighthouse, Suffolk County Police said. Marine Bureau officers responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released as of press time.
