Cigarette Drops In Driver's Lap, Car Topples Pole Onto Cars In Palisades Park
A Pennsylvania woman crashed into a utility pole in Bergen County on Saturday, June 6, after a cigarette fell into her lap, police said.
The driver, 42, was behind the wheel of a gray Dodge Ram 1500 pickup when she swerved and struck the pole at approximately 2 p.m., Palisades Park Police Capt. James Rotundo said. The truck then hit three parked vehicles, according to Rotundo.

A 28-year-old man died after being caught in a rip current off a Long Beach Island beach, authorities said.
Police, firefighters, and EMS crews responded to East 21st Street in Ship Bottom at approximately 2:28 p.m. on Friday, June 5, after receiving reports that four people were caught in a rip current, according to the Ship Bottom Police Department.
Three of the four people had already made it safely to shore when first responders arrived, police said.

Three people were charged with drug offenses after a traffic stop in Saddle Brook, police said.
Patrol officers stopped a gray Honda Accord at approximately 10:49 a.m. on Friday, June 5, according to Saddle Brook Police Chief John A. Zotollo Jr.
Further investigation revealed all three occupants were in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, the chief said.

Blake D. De Los Santos, of New York City, was heading east in an Acura sedan when he lost directional control, veered off the roadway to the right, and struck a concrete barrier just before 6:10 a.m. at milepost 68 in Teaneck, State Police said.
