A deeply troubling new detail has emerged in the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother.
NBC News reported Tuesday, June 23, that a second ransom note sent to media outlets said 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie had died after she vanished from her Tucson, Arizona, home.
Guthrie, the mother of NBC "Today" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, disappeared on Sunday, Feb. 1. She has not been found.
The note, sent Friday, Feb. 6, claimed her death was unintentional and said she was "buried with nature now," NBC News reported.
Investigators have not confirmed Guthrie’s death, and the case remains active.

Cybernews researchers found an unsecured database containing 24 billion records, including usernames, email addresses, plaintext passwords, and login URLs, according to Cybernews.
Cybernews said the exposed Elasticsearch cluster contained more than 8.3 terabytes of data. In plain English, that is enough digital material to fill thousands of movies or millions of documents.
