Trees crashed onto homes, blocked roads, and tangled with power lines as strong thunderstorms swept through Bergen County on Friday evening, June 12, according to storm reports. From DUI arrests and theft to racial slurs and sexual assaults, New Jersey police officers were hit with 817 major disciplinary actions in 2025, according to a newly released report from the Attorney General's Office (scroll down to see the complete report). Crash Outside Indian Hills High School Shuts Down Oakland Road, 1 Hospitalized
A street right outside of a Bergen County high school was closed Friday, June 12, due to a crash investigation. Oakland police said only that Yawpo Avenue was closed between McCoy Road and Page Drive due to the active investigation as of 5:20 p.m. The crash at Yawpo Avenue and Page Drive happened right outside of Indian Hills High School. One person was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment and evaluation, police said. Man, 31, Lured, Sexually Assaulted Child At Local Englewood Park: Prosecutor
A 31-year-old Bergen County man has been arrested on accusations that he lured and sexually assaulted a child at a local park last weekend. Sebastian Nino-Lopez, of Englewood Cliffs, lured the juvenile to an isolated area in Englewood's Mackay Park where he touched her vagina, knowing that she was "physically helpless or incapacitated," according to the criminal complaint obtained by Daily Voice. A Subaru SUV crashed into Abma's Farm Market in Wyckoff on Friday afternoon, June 12. Woman, 84, Extricated After Car Ends Up On Top Of Another Vehicle In Fair Lawn
An 84-year-old woman was extricated after sending her car into the outside of a CVS in Fair Lawn, then landing on top of another vehicle on Friday afternoon, June 12. The woman was attempting to turn and park in the handicap spot when she went over the sidewalk into the exterior of the CVS on River Road, police at the scene tell Daily Voice. She ended up on top of an Acura sedan, authorities said. The woman was freed with help from firefighters and evaluated by Fair Lawn paramedics on scene. She did not appear to be injured, authorities said.

4-Alarm Fire Destroys New Brunswick Auto Shop, Spreads To Home
A massive blaze destroyed an auto body shop early Friday, June 12 in New Brunswick, News12 New Jersey reports. The blaze broke out at Prestige Auto Service on Easton Avenue at approximately 3 a.m., with flames shooting through the roof. A nearby home was impacted and severely damaged too, according to the East Brunswick Independent Fire Company, which assisted at the scene. Widower Blames Dangerous Crossing In Hackensack Wife's Train Death, Sues City
The husband of a woman struck and killed by a train in Hackensack last summer has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against NJ Transit, Bergen County, the City of Hackensack, and multiple transportation agencies, claiming dangerous conditions existed at the crossing where the fatal incident occurred (see lawsuit attached at the bottom of this news article).
