The Pace University community and a Westchester family are mourning the sudden loss of a young student-athlete remembered for her kindness, energy, and bright spirit.
Stevie Marie DeLuca, a Yonkers native and junior at Pace University, died on Thursday, April 30, at the age of 20, according to her obituary.
DeLuca was a member of Pace’s cheerleading team, where she served as a flyer. A graduate of Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy, she was majoring in criminal justice in the university’s Dyson School of Arts and Sciences.

A city in Westchester County has a new high point in its skyline.
Yonkers officials marked the opening of Hudson 44, a 27-story residential tower at 44 Hudson St., now the tallest building in the city, Mayor Mike Spano announced Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Rising along the city’s waterfront, the development adds 250 residential units, including 25 designated as affordable housing, according to the mayor. The project represents one of the largest recent residential investments in the city’s ongoing waterfront redevelopment.

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, Officer Gregory Bulick was on patrol in Saddle River when a white SUV sped past him while driving recklessly, the department said in a press release.
Bulick attempted a traffic stop, but police said the driver, later identified as Kaitlyn Slicker-Abulteen, of Warwick, NY, accelerated even more after he activated his emergency lights and sirens. For safety reasons, Bulick ended the pursuit and issued a BOLO to nearby departments.

Marcus Powell, 39, of Yonkers, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 8, on grand larceny charges in connection with the thefts, Yorktown Police announced on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

A 29-year-old New York man died after he shot himself in the head at a New Jersey gun range last week, authorities tell Daily Voice.
The Yonkers man, who was not identified, was at the privately owned Long Shot gun range at 375 County Avenue in Secaucus on Friday, Sept. 5 when he shot at approximately 4:25 p.m., Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said.
