Moms Accused Of Instigating, Adding Weapons To Traffic-Stopping Teen Brawl
Two mothers are being accused of instigating and bringing weapons to a 15-person, traffic-stopping juvenile melee on Friday.
Their chosen weapons were scissors and what appeared to be a hammer.
On Friday, Jan. 15, police arrested Brenda Ortiz, 29, and Brenda Rosario, 47, both of Worcester. They were each charged with mayhem, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (aggravated, serious bodily injury), and reckless endangerment of a child, Worcester Police said. Rosario was also charged with an outstanding warrant, police said.

A man found hiding in a driveway and carrying a hatchet has been arrested and charged with kidnapping among other crimes.
On Sunday, Dec. 20, at around 8 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault with a knife in the area of Irving Street in Worcester.
The stranger - who was later identified as Edwin Reyes, 28, of Worcester - allegedly approached the victim on the street and forced the victim into the entryway of a nearby building, threatened him, and pointed a knife at him, Worcester Police said.

Suspect In Stabbing Assault Wasn't Able To Run Far From Police
Police quickly arrested a suspect in the stabbing of a 37-year-old city victim Saturday night.
On Saturday, Nov. 29, at around 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of 225 Shrewsbury St., in Worcester.
Upon arrival, Worcester Police discovered a 37-year-old victim with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

An officer with a sharp eye foiled an allegedly violent, purse-thief early Monday morning.
On Monday, Nov. 23, around 5:40 a.m., a Worcester Police officer was patrolling the Grand Street area when he allegedly observed a woman cross the street in front of his cruiser carrying two handbags, police said.
Shortly thereafter, the officer was flagged down by a woman who reported she had just been mugged and her purse was stolen, police said.

On Friday, Nov. 20, police arrested Messiah Amankwah, 18, of Worcester and charged with murder in the shooting death of a boy in October, police said.
