NJ Mayors Want Murphy To Reopen Indoor Malls, Shopping Centers
A group of New Jersey mayors have formed a coalition in hopes of persuading Gov. Phil Murphy to reopen indoor malls. Woodbridge Mayor John E. McCormac is helming the coalition of mayors, all of whom have large indoor mall and shopping centers in their municipalities. All New Jersey malls and shopping centers closed on March 17 due to the coronavirus outbreak. On May 18, the state allowed non-essential retail stores to offer curbside pickup. Wayne PD: Man Who Exposed Himself At Mall Seized During Holiday Shopping Rush
Wayne police and Passaic County sheriff's officers were talking to a witness reporting that a man had exposed himself at busy Willowbrook Mall this weekend when a woman screamed nearby. The woman, who was with her 12-year-old nephew, pointed to the suspect, who was immediately taken into custody, township Police Capt. Daniel Daly said Monday. Fast fashion retailer Forever 21 announced it will be filing for bankruptcy Sunday. Authorities were investigating a clothing store fire that cleared a wing of the Willowbrook Mall on Saturday -- although responders said it appeared to be electrical. WAYNE, N.J. -- Wayne police asked the public for help Tuesday identifying a man who they said snatched an iPhone worth $1,160 from a Willowbrook Mall kiosk and fled. The thief "engaged in a ruse sale for an iPhone X," then "seized the phone and fled the shopping center" just after 5:30 p.m. March 11, Detective Capt. Laurence Martin said.
