A beloved firefighter and veteran from Westchester is being remembered for his lifetime of service to others and his legendary clam-shucking skills. Rye Brook resident Raymond Nethercott, the most senior member of the Port Chester Fire Department's Washington Engine & Hose Co. #4, died on Wednesday, June 26 at the age of 92, according to his obituary. Born and raised in Port Chester, Nethercott graduated from Port Chester High School before going on to serve in the US Navy between 1951 and 1955. A construction worker was rescued from the sixth floor of a vacant building under demolition in Westchester after suffering an injury and becoming stuck. The rescue happened on Wednesday, June 19 around 11:15 a.m., when a construction worker suffered a leg injury on the sixth floor of the old United Hospital property at 999 High St. in Port Chester, according to the village's fire department. An all-new store and donation center is about to open in Westchester. The first day of business for the Goodwill store, located next to Walgreens at 1333 West Boston Post Rd. (Route 1) in Larchmont, will be on Tuesday, June 25. The 4,976-square-foot store will offer a selection of used and new women's, men's, and kids' clothing in addition to household wares.
