Woman Rescued After Car Plunges Down Embankment In Katonah Firefighters had to use a rope system to save a woman from her car after it crashed down a steep embankment in Westchester. The one-car crash happened on Saturday, March 8, at around 8 p.m., when a vehicle plunged down an embankment off of Route 35 near Mount Holly Road in Katonah, according to the Katonah Fire Department.  Firefighters arrived to find the vehicle off the roadway and had to deploy a low-angle rope system to reach the driver safely, the department said. Body Found In Water Along Sprain Brook Parkway In Yonkers Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered in a waterway next to the Sprain Brook Parkway in Westchester. The body was spotted on Wednesday, Feb. 19 in the Grassy Sprain Brook in Yonkers near the Kimball Avenue overpass alongside the Sprain Brook Parkway, Yonkers Police Sgt. Robert Spink said on Thursday, Feb. 20.  Upon arrival, officers found the deceased adult man in the water. The crashes happened in Yorktown on Sunday evening, Jan. 19 amid a snowstorm, the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department said on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Longtime Rye Firefighter Dies: Served For Over 3 Decades A fire department in Westchester has announced the death of Mike Cucchiara, who bravely served his community for more than 30 years.  The death of Cucchiara, a retired career firefighter with the Rye Fire Department, was announced by his former department on Wednesday night, Jan. 15.  Cucchiara retired in 2020 after 31 years with the department.  "The department will remember his service to the city and wish his family and friends our sympathy during this time," the department wrote in a social media page.  More information about Cucchiara's death was not made public. …
