W. Caldwell Man Had More Than 1K Images Of Child Pornography: Prosecutor
A number of agencies took part in an investigation leading to the arrest of a West Caldwell man who had several hundred images and video showing children being sexually abused, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said Friday. Ethan Weiner, 29, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after authorities said more than 1,000 items were found at his home during a search Thursday. Glaze Donuts is coming to Fort Lee, store employees said. The artisan doughnut shop has locations in New Milford and West Caldwell. The new store will open in the Washington Bridge Plaza strip mall near Walgreens, NorthJersey.com says. No word yet on opening date.

A North Caldwell police officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries after he attempted to stop the driver of a stolen car early Wednesday morning, according to published reports. Sgt. John Belotta was patrolling the area of Mountain Avenue and Knowlwood Drive shortly before 5 a.m. when he saw two vehicles that had been reported stolen in Morris Plains and Maplewood. Paterson Man Charged With Having Cybersex With Girl, 13
A 31-year-old Paterson man had cybersex with a 13-year-old girl, said authorities who arrested him. Daquan Tyshon Thomas was arrested at his job in West Caldwell by members of the Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force after getting a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Thomas “enticed [the girl] to engage in sexual activity via private communications” that were “recorded and later sent to the victim,” Berdnik said. After more than two decades in business, Sam's Bagel & Deli has closed up shop in Wayne, store employees confirmed. The shop's West Caldwell location remains open. The Hamburg Turnpike bagel shop and deli was owned by Stephen Hudes, who died in 2011. His wife Sue took over as the owner.
