Long Island Woman Sentenced For Conspiring To Distribute Drugs, Firearm Possession
A Long Island woman was sentenced for conspiring to distribute drugs, including fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
Amber Schatz, age 33, of Wading River, was sentenced on Thursday, Dec. 9, to 10 years in prison, according to Breon Peace, United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
She pleaded guilty to the charges in May.
In January of 2020, Schatz and her boyfriend Curtis Prussick conspired to distribute "large quantities of narcotics," the Attorney's Office reported.

Man Accused Of Attempting To Rob Suffolk County Speedway, Police Say
A 30-year-old man is facing charges after police said he attempted to rob a Long Island gas station.
Police received a report of an attempted robbery at Speedway gas, located at 6305 Route 25A in Wading River, at about 8:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, according to the Riverhead Police Department.
When investigators arrived at the gas station, they determined that the man entered the business, demanded cash from an employee and took an item without paying.
The man, identified as John Marchese, of Coram, was located a short distance away, police said.

The owner and two workers at a Long Island sports bar have been charged following a New York State Liquor Authority Inspection.
The inspection was conducted at the Big Kahuna Bar and Grill, located in Huntington, at 1730 East Jericho Turnpike, at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, June 12.

Long Island Man Flees Police, Plows Into Thruway Fence, Police Say
A Long Island man has been arrested for fleeing from police during a traffic stop and then driving through a Thruway fence, causing damage to the fence and the vehicle.
Jacob Cotter, age 24, of Wading River, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 30, by New York State Police after they attempted to stop his vehicle on I-90 in the upstate New York town of Van Buren, in Onondaga County, for multiple traffic violations, said Trooper Tara McCormick.
