Two former government employees from Long Island will spend more than a year in federal lockup for defrauding loan programs meant to help businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Arthur Cornwall, age 43, of Babylon, and Sean Williams, age 42, of Valley Stream, were each sentenced to 18 months in prison in Central Islip federal court on Wednesday, March 20, after pleading guilty to wire fraud.

A young man from New Jersey was arrested after he was discovered to be part of a group that has committed a string of burglaries across Long Island, police announced.
Fazon Farrington, age 19 of Newark, New Jersey, was arrested following an investigation that stemmed from a Lake Success incident, Nassau County Police said on Thursday, March 14.
On Saturday, Jan. 13, a group of three men, also from New Jersey, were reportedly fleeing from the scene of a home they attempted to burgle — but were stopped when they crashed into the officers driving towards the scene.

Woman, Son Bite, Hit Officers During Long Island Welfare Check, Police Say
A woman and her son were arrested after a welfare check on Long Island allegedly turned violent, police said.
The incident occurred on Sunday, Feb. 25 in Valley Stream, according to Nassau County Police.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. that day, police arrived at a Valley Stream home to conduct a welfare check, where they determined that Brigitte Atta-Poku, age 43, needed medical treatment.
However, she allegedly became violent with authorities, hitting and even biting a medic.
