Feds: ID Thief From NJ Filed $1M In Unemployment Claims In NY
A North Jersey ID thief used personal information stolen from 20 people to file $1 million worth of unemployment claims to New York State, federal authorities said. Federal agents tracked all of the claims for benefits to a single IP address and telephone number belonging to Maurice Mills, 28, of Union Township, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said. Union Police: Repeat Bank Robber Arrested After Pursuit Through Snow Storm
A man who police say robbed a pair of Union Township banks was arrested after a foot pursuit during this week's Nor'easter, authorities said. Union Township police responded to a panic alarm from the Morris Avenue TD Bank on Wednesday around 3:50 p.m., the department said in a press release. Once there, employees provided them with a description of the suspect who fled with cash. A 91-year-old Union County woman living in squalor had more than $280,000 stolen from her by her home health aide and her two daughters, authorities said Monday. Authorities: Police Pursuit Of PA Man With Handgun Ends In Route 78 Crash
A Pennsylvania man was armed with two handguns when he sped away from police during a traffic stop and crashed on Route 78 in Hunterdon County Wednesday night, authorities said. Erick Allen, 42, was stopped on Route 78 east near milepost 11.4 in Union Township for a violation around 8:50 p.m., NJ.com reports citing state police. Allen, of York, PA, sped away when officers determined that he had a warrant for parole violations and crashed a short time later near milepost 13.4, the report said. State Police: Tractor-Trailer Crash Shuts Down Route 78 in Hunterdon County
A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a Lexus shut down Route 78 eastbound in Hunterdon County Thursday afternoon, State Police said. The crash was reported near milepost 13.1 in Union Township just before 12:40 p.m., NJSP Trooper Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice. Traffic was temporally diverted off Exit 11 following the crash, Goez said. No injuries were reported in the crash, and all lanes were reopened around 1:30 p.m., Goez said.

State Police: Tractor-Trailer Catches Fire On Route 78
All lanes have reopened after a tractor-trailer went up in flames on Route 78 westbound in Hunterdon County Tuesday afternoon, State Police said. The trailer blaze broke out near milepost 14 in Union Township just after 1 p.m., NJSP Sgt. Jeff Flynn told Daily Voice. No injuries were reported, Flynn said. The area was cleared with all lanes reopened about an hour later, authorities said.

Two men from the Bronx had about $10,000 worth of heroin, $1,000 in cash and $250 of marijuana when they were stopped on Route 78 in Hunterdon County Sunday morning, State Police said. Raymond Mercado, 22, was stopped for a violation while driving westbound on Route 78 in Union Township near milepost 12.2 just after 9:30 a.m., authorities said.
