ID Released For Man Who Died In Police Custody Following Capital Region Arrest
Authorities have identified a man who died in police custody following an arrest in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened just before noon Friday, Oct. 13, in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood. According to Troy Police, officers responded to a home after a resident called 911 reporting a trespasser. When they arrived, they saw 48-year-old Woody Smith, of Troy, crawling out of a first-floor window, police said. Two 18-year-olds are facing charges following an alleged street race in the region that reached speeds over 100 miles per hour before one of the cars crashed. Resident Purposely Sets Fire To Capital Region Home Near Cemetery, Police Say
A 66-year-old man is accused of intentionally setting fire to his home in the region. Emergency crews in Rensselaer County were called at around 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, for a house fire in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood, on 3rd Avenue near 106th Street. Crews are responding to a “substantial” water main break in the region that has inundated a residential neighborhood with a torrent of flood water. Capital Region Man Sexually Abuses Underage Victim, Police Say
A 35-year-old man from the region is accused of sexually abusing a minor. Rensselaer County resident Joshua Perry, of Troy, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 31, following a month-long investigation, according to the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office.
