Storm Knocks Out Power To Hundreds, Brings Down Trees In Fairfield County
A severe storm that swept through Fairfield County late Tuesday afternoon resulted in downed trees and wires and has knocked out power to hundreds of homes and businesses. Norwalk and New Canaan were especially hard hit. There are 572 customers without power in Norwalk and 400 in New Canaan at 6:30 p.m., according to Eversource. Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands, Brings Down Trees In Northern Westchester
A severe storm that swept through Northern Westchester late Tuesday afternoon resulted in numerous downed trees and has knocked out power to thousands of homes and businesses. At 5:45 p.m., 6,202 NYSEG customers lost power in Northern Westchester, mainly in Bedford, Lewisboro and Pound Ridge. Con Ed reported 1,398 outages in the Northern Westchester communities it serves. Metro-North Harlem Line service is temporarily delayed between Goldens Bridge and Chappaqua due to downed trees in the vicinity of Bedford Hills. Tornado Watch In Effect As Severe Storms Sweep Through Area
A Tornado Watch is in effect for Fairfield County as severe storms sweep through the area from west to east. The watch went into effect at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday and lasts until midnight. The watch comes after a Tornado Warning expired at 4:45 p.m. in Northern Westchester after a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado crossed over the Hudson River from Pomona in Rockland County to Peekskill. Parts of Connecticut are now under a tornado watch as severe thunderstorms will hit the area Tuesday afternoon and evening. The tornado watch was issued at 1:05 p.m. for Litchfield County and is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
