Four men were charged after being caught racing on Connecticut roadways including on I-95. The incident took place in New Haven County around 10:15 a.m., on Sunday, July 17 in West Haven. The men were caught after state police at Troop G received multiple 911 calls of a group of six vehicles racing, weaving in and out of traffic, and using the shoulder of the roadway to pass on several roadways, including I-95, said the Connecticut State Police. An estimated 300 vehicles took over a Baltimore parking lot and street as "anarchists" taunted police during a street race, authorities say. A Silver Spring drag racer was found guilty for causing a multiple-vehicle crash that left one person dead in 2019, state officials said. Noe Daniel Suriel, 29, was found guilty by jury on Thursday, June 9 for causing the death of Rene Antonio Hernandez Jr., 32, during the collision on Georgia Avenue on Sept. 6, 2019, according to the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office. Two street racers were nabbed by police after their vehicles became disabled from a crash as they fled from police in Westchester. Driver Killed In Fiery Route 287 Crash
State Police were investigating a report of vehicles possibly racing before one crashed through a guard rail and burst into flames, killing its driver, near the Wanaque-Oakland border on Route 287 Tuesday night, responders said. Syed Hassan, 34, of Bethlehem, PA was pronounced dead at the scene at milepost 55.9 on the northbound highway in Wanaque following the 10:15 p.m. crash, they said. Wanaque firefighters doused the blaze. Oakland and Wanaque police also responded, along with NJSP’s Fatal Accident Investigation and Crime Scene Unit and the state Department of Transportation.
