Biggest Danger On Roads Is Now Distracted Driving, AAA Says Distracted, not drunk, drugged or aggressive drivers are the biggest cause of concern for motorists, according to a survey conducted by AAA. According to a study released by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety this week, distracted driving has reached the top of the list of growing dangers on local roadways, surpassing aggressive or impaired drivers. The study states that 88 percent of drivers contend that distracted driving is on the rise, a 30 percent increase in just five years. Police: Health Aide Stole $100K Worth Of Rings From Fairfield County Woman A local home health care aide was arrested for ripping off several rings worth more than $100,000 from a woman in her care, according to Stratford Police. Nicole Passander, 32, of Ansonia was arrested Friday for felony larceny following an investigation into the thefts, said Capt. Frank Eannotti.  According to Eannotti, the thefts were reported in March and a warrant was issued after the investigation led police to Passander. Fairfield County Man Nabbed After Repeatedly Stabbing Roommate, Police Say A Stratford man is behind bars after stabbing his roommate repeatedly, according to Stratford Police. David Newman, 42, of 91 Gina Circle was arrested after he attacked his roommate on Tuesday, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti. According to Eannotti, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the residence while the two were arguing and Newman stabbed the rommate with a knife several times in the arm and shoulder. Mark Febres, 22, was charged Thursday, Feb. 15, with criminal attempt at murder, assault, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, home invasion and violation of a protective order, after breaking into his girlfriend's West Board Street home, police said.
