A 47-year-old unlicensed New Jersey driver has been charged in a Staten Island crash that left three teenagers, including a pair of siblings, dead over the weekend, authorities said.
Maher Asi-Mahmoud, of Marlboro, was turning left in an eastbound 2017 GMC Yukon when it collided with a westbound Ford Mustang, carrying the teens Sunday, July 10, police said. The Mustang was sent into a tree on impact and split in half, ejecting two of the occupants.

A restaurant chain that specializes in açaí bowls has opened a new location on Long Island.
Baya Bar held the grand opening of its Garden City location on Saturday, June 4, according to an announcement on the eatery's Facebook page.
The new eatery, located at 301 Nassau Boulevard, offers a selection of açaí, kale, pitaya, and coconut bowls, along with smoothies and fresh juices.
The chain also operates locations in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, and locations in Nevada and Louisiana.

A man who suffered serious injuries after falling from a hotel balcony on Long Island has been identified as a US Coast Guardsman, according to friends.
Alexander “AJ” Keating, age 24, was on a ninth-floor balcony at around 12:45 a.m. Monday, May 23, when he fell over a railing at the Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge, Suffolk County Police said.
Keating, a native of North Andover, Massachusetts, survived the fall and was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, said police.
