Western Mass Woman Dies Hours After Being Shot, Police Say A woman has died hours after being found shot on street in the region. The unidentified Massachusetts woman was found shot in Hampden County around 2:50 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 on Vermont Street in Springfield. Woman Found Stabbed To Death In Western Mass, Police Say A woman was found stabbed to death when police responded to a call for an injured person in Western Massachusetts. It happened in Springfield around 8:55 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, on Baldwin Street, said authorities. Arriving officers found the woman with several stab wounds and began first aid on her. Duo Nabbed After Firearm, Heroin Seized In Western Mass, Police Say Two Western Massachusetts men are facing charges after police seized a loaded firearm and 91 bags of heroin.  The Springfield Police Department said the drugs and the firearm were seized at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 31.  Police said 25-year-old Anthony Ayala and 27-year-old Maurice Bailey, both of Springfield, were arrested on Summit Street.  The men are facing a number of gun and drug charges, authorities said.
