Thousands Without Power In Central Jersey Due To Wind, Downed Lines
Widespread power outages were fueled by high winds and flooding, authorities said. As of 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, Monmouth County was the hardest hit with more than 15,500 homes and businesses without power, according to Jersey Central Power and Light. Ocean County reported 2,420 without power; Middlesex County experienced 1,109 outages; Mercer County had 955 outages and Burlington County had 90. There also were scattered outages in Camden and Gloucester counties, PSE&G reported, saying there were 427 outages across South Jersey.

NJ Porch Pirate Rams Officer With Vehicle, Speeds Off: Cops
A porch pirate who rammed a South Jersey police officer with her vehicle while fleeing from him is being sought on multiple charges, officials say. Police spotted Ebony E. Gomez's white Dodge Journey on Jarvis Road in the Sicklerville section of Gloucester Township around 1:40 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, local police said. The vehicle had been identified in a series of package thefts, and so officers conducted a motor vehicle stop. The license plate, NJ-F64PSY, was listed as stolen. Harrowing details are beginning to surface in the death of a South Jersey woman. After being charged with second-degree disturbing human remains, 53-year-old Carlos Acevedo, of Camden, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Cathleen McGrath, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. Two teenagers were arrested after shooting at each other in Bayonne on Saturday, Oct. 21, authorities said. Motorcyclist Dies After Passing Line Of Stopped Cars In South Jersey
A 61-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck this week in South Jersey. Michael McCulley, 61, of Woolwich, was heading west on Mullica Hill Road in Harrison Township, when he passed westbound cars stopped at a red light around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, local police said. McCulley went into the Lambs Road intersection and struck the passenger side of the pickup truck, which had been turning left from Mullica Hill Road east onto Lambs Road north. The truck driver was hospitalized for evaluation and McCulley was pronounced dead at the scene.

2,800 Bags Of Heroin Seized In Cape May County Arrest: Prosecutor
A 32-year-old man from South Jersey has been arrested for selling heroin, authorities said. Jorge A. Aviles, of Rio Grande, was charged with numerous drug and weapons offenses, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Jennifer Pooler of the Middle Township Police Department. As part of a warranted search of Aviles' home on Route 47, about 2,800 bags of heroin were seized along with $753 cash and a dagger, Sutherland said. Aviles was being held in the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
