Police: Phony Female Prostitute, Pals Jump Little Ferry Customer, 28, At South Hackensack Motel
A Little Ferry man thought he was about to hook up with a female prostitute who turned out to be one of three Bronx men who mugged him at a South Hackensack motel, authorities said.
Answering an online ad, the 28-year-old victim brought $100 in cash with him on Wednesday, Capt. Robert Kaiser said.
He was invited into a room, where the trio jumped him, Kaiser said.
The robbers took his iPhone and the cash and were trying to hail a cab when police pulled up.

Huge Haul: South Hackensack PD Charges 29 With Fishing, Cashing $100,000 In Checks From Mail
Capping an enormous investigation involving dozens of victims, South Hackensack police busted 29 people who they said fished checks from a mailbox that they then cashed for upwards of $100,000.
Between August and last month, nearly 40 victims reported checks stolen, altered for larger amounts and cashed by members of the large-scale ring, Detective Capt. Robert Chinchar said Tuesday.
Nearly all of the checks -- which the victims wrote for utility bills, taxes, and mortgage payments -- were fished from a drive-through mailbox at the US Post Office on Huyler Street, the captain said.

'It's About Time': South Hackensack Police Swear In First Female Officer
Three new officers were sworn into the South Hackensack Police Department Monday night, including the department's first-ever female.
Ashley LaGrosa, a 20-year-old Hillsdale native who comes from a family of law enforcement, was a dispatcher for the Hackensack and Hillsdale police departments.
Her uncle, Robert Francaviglia, is the current police chief in Hillsdale, where her grandfather, Robert Francaviglia Sr., retired as a lieutenant.
